Bathroom Flooring Options

No matter what room you’re remodeling, you want the floor to be resilient. The last thing you’d want is to spend time and money on a full bathroom remodel, just to need to replace your flooring again after a few years. But it’s not just resiliency you need to consider, you also want to think about aesthetics and your budget. To help you through this choice, our team at Indy Renovation is comparing the three most common bathroom flooring options and which we think is the best choice when remodeling your bathroom.

1. Ceramic Tile

Our top choice for a bathroom floor is always tile. Tile is one of the most water-resistant flooring materials out there. Plus, tile is easy to clean – a major necessity in the bathroom. Tile also offers the maximum value for quality flooring and the most design options. Ceramic floor tiles come in so many shapes, colors, patterns, and finishes. You can go for an earthy stone look, choose modern subway tiles, or even tiles that look like hardwoods.

2. Vinyl

Vinyl flooring is another option that comes with many benefits. It is extremely inexpensive, easy to clean, and water-resistant, and is relatively durable. However, vinyl is difficult to repair if sharp objects fall on it and, over time, it can develop bumps or curls at the edges or along the seams. Additionally, because of its lower price point, vinyl won’t do much for your home’s resale value. However, if you’re looking for an easy, budget-friendly option, vinyl can be a smart choice.

3. Laminate

One more option to consider is laminate flooring. Today’s laminate has a fold and lock or click and lock layout, making installation very simple, like putting together a puzzle. It’s easy to clean and maintain, and is very durable as it has a protective layer that shields the layer underneath. However, it’s important to make sure you get the specialized type of laminate floor in order to prevent water from seeping between the boards. It’s also difficult to repair laminate flooring and it can be slippery at times.
