You’ve officially outgrown your bathroom. The layout, the design, and the functionality just aren’t working. You are ready to tackle bathroom remodeling, but you also don’t want to spend your life savings doing so. We at Indy Renovation want to pass along a few tips for helping you remodel your bathroom on a limited budget.
Many people watch home-improvement shows and think, “Oh, I could do that! No problem.” But the reality is that we have seen many DIY bathroom remodeling projects go bad. So before you tackle new plumbing, moving walls, or installing new windows on your own, be realistic about your skill set and where you can (and can’t) afford to do some of the work on your own. Being honest with yourself (before you pick up that wrecking bar) can actually save you money on fixes or repairs down the road.
Without being creepy, case out your neighborhood to compare bathroom spaces. You might be able to ask a nearby friend if you can stop by, or attend an open house in your neighborhood. Pay attention to common bathroom features, such as custom showers, flooring, layout, and so on. You want to make sure your bathroom remodel is comparable for resale value. This knowledge can help you know how to best spend your remodeling dollars.
It’s amazing how the right shower head or a fantastic lighting fixture can make your bathroom remodel stand out. Find one or two features that will help customize your space and make it feel luxurious, even if the rest of your remodel choices are more standard.
