Your home’s plumbing usually isn’t something that’s constantly on your mind—until there’s an emergency. Pipes are often run inside walls or beneath your floor, so you don’t come in contact with them on a daily basis. So other than a leak that’s gushing all over the place, how do you know whether your home might need pipe repair? The plumbers at Indy Renovation give you a few tips for detecting faulty pipes (and for when to give our plumbers a call).
Have you suddenly started hearing loud banging noises coming from inside the walls or beneath your floorboards? Don’t chalk it up to an older home with quirks, especially if it’s a new issue. Instead, we recommend that you call a plumber to assess the noises and help you determine the culprit. You may find that some pipes need to be replaced, or your water heater may be the root of the problem. However, we can help you troubleshoot it so you aren’t sitting around puzzled.
Like we mentioned, pipes are often in the the walls or below or above you. However, if you start to notice a discoloration on a wall, ceiling, or floor, you may have a leaky pipe on the other side.
Many plumbing experts agree that a sudden change or low water pressure can indicate that your pipes may need repair. So if your showers are suddenly less powerful than normal, don’t shrug your shoulders and move on.
According to houselogic, “If the water looks brown or yellow, what you’re seeing is rust, a sign of decay inside the pipes.” Pipe repair or replacement may be a necessity, so you don’t want to tarry.
These are just a few of the signs that your plumbing may have some issues. In general, if you notice any major changes in your water or plumbing system or signs of leaks, contact our plumbers at Indy Renovation at (317) 375-4464. We can help you troubleshoot your plumbing concerns and determine whether pipe repair or replacement is necessary.
